Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is a supportive therapy that can help cancer patients manage their symptoms and side effects before, during, and after cancer treatments. It also enhances comfort and helps ease the anxiety, fatigue, pain, nausea, sleep issues associated with cancer diagnosis and treatments.

Oncology massage is a specialised form of massage therapy which is tailored to meet the unique needs and considerations of people undergoing cancer treatment or living with cancer.

Unlike traditional massage, which may focus on relaxation and muscle tension relief with deeper pressure, oncology massage is focused on gentle and slow strokes which are adapted to accommodate the physical and emotional challenges associated with cancer.

Some of the common techniques include:

Gentle Effleurage: Long, flowing strokes that encourage relaxation and increase blood circulation.
Petrissage: A kneading technique used with light pressure to release tension in muscles, done carefully to avoid areas affected by surgery or swelling.
Lymphatic Drainage: Gentle massage aimed at encouraging the natural drainage of the lymphatic system, helping to reduce swelling and promote detoxification.
Gentle feet massage ,and reflexology
A lot of people, including massage therapists, have the belief that massage spreads cancer. This is NOT true. And to continually repeat this erroneous information denies people who are really in need of therapeutic touch from experiencing a powerfully relaxing and nurturing massage.

Adapted Holistic Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Reflexology can be given to anyone (with a small number of exceptions) at any stage of cancer treatment.
